Consider me a flower child. Before my all-black emo stage in high school, I grew up as a "kid hippie" with peace signs of all types (the circular one, the hand with two fingers one, and the word itself) shown off everywhere. There were bean-bag chairs, "Scooby-Doo Where Are You?" marathons, tie-dying shirts, Halloween costumes, etc etc. I even have a peace sign tattoo on my left ear (which I got when I wasn't a kid, just to clarify).
Fast-forward to a few years ago at the 2009 (or was it 2010? *shrug*) Genoa Candy Dance Craft Festival in Genoa, Nevada, one of my all-time favorite craft festivals of all time. I go every year to this September extravaganza with my family and we find the most amazing stuff. This particular year I found a metal-worker who was selling garden art, signs, and all sorts of metal-based pieces. One sign caught me eye that read "Make Love Not War" surrounding a peace sign. My inner flower child squealed and forked over the cash. Who cares where I was going to put it, I NEEDED IT!
Presently, this metal masterpiece is above my sink. It used to hang above my store at my last apartment so that's why there's grease stains splattered on it (which I personally think makes it more worn and rugged and... yeah, it looks better this way).
PLEASE, if you can figure out the signature / logo on my sign from the
image below, let me know this artist since I can't find their website! I may be able to stake them out at this year's festival but be on the lookout!
Are you a flower child as well? What are some of your peace-loving go-to pieces? Let me know in the comments.
