This past year was mostly awesome but ended strangely for me. First there's the whole getting my dream job thing. Also living completely roommate-less for the first time in a cute little apartment all to myself. Don't forget starting this lovely blog! Lastly the getting laid off and moving all over again starting fresh with a new friend in a new city. Damn if this wasn't the best year of my life thus far regardless of the lows with the highs.
For this month's list, I'm sharing my top five favorite posts of 2013 based on no real formula whatsoever but my own preference. In order by date here they are:
DIY Seashell Mirror
This little beauty was my first ever What Mandy Loves post! It was so much fun photo taking, editing, and writing it all up for the first time with hopes of soaring Internet DIY stardom. But slow and steady is the way it goes, so despite the awesomeness of this particular DIY piece I am not hiring a personal assistant or spending a boat load on massive servers for my wonderfully successful blog just yet. I'm in it for the fun after all not the fame. The humble beginnings are always the best to look back on.
DIY Room Divider Revamp
The most labor-intensive DIY I've posted thus far is this room divider I used to hide the litter box against the corner of my teeny tiny apartment. The whole thing started as a way to get rid of some extra yarn (because GOOD LORD I have so much). Several months of tedious threading and an aching back lead to this masterpiece of colorful deflection. I'm always getting compliments on it when I have company over.
Finds & Treasures: Mod Dining Table & Chairs (August Kitchen Theme)
Funky sixties-inspired chairs, a blank canvas of a table my father painted, and I get to eat meals over it? All because my mom decided to hit up her usual thrift store one morning? Major thrift items of the year for sure!
DIY Change-Out Magnet From Keychain (August Kitchen Theme)
This may be a silly little DIY that takes two seconds, but I was super proud of myself for coming up with it. I kept the key chain and extra magnet in a drawer for months wondering what on earth to do with them, but a random thought about my favorite band and my lack of merch lit the bulb over my head. Now it's my favorite magnet!
DIY Confetti Candle Holder
Finding this candle holder in the height of my candle addiction only fed my obsession, but look at how pretty it is! I'll admit this wasn't my handy work (another surprising thrift shop find, thank you random citizen) but since its super easy to do myself I put it on the blog anyway because replicating it is a no-brainer.
I'd love to hear what your favorite post on What Mandy Loves from 2013 is! Let me know in the comments.
